YouthMAP believes in the autonomy of young individuals, that they can navigate and redefine their own circumstances, if given the encouragement and opportunity. We supply agency and self-efficacy by providing mentorship, a creative outlet, and a chance for civic engagement through photography. We teach our students how to use a camera, its value as a method for self-expression, and how to make a difference in their community with their work. Our program concludes with a Gala that celebrates our students’ achievements within each semester, and emphasizes their self-driven success despite their circumstances.
